Thank You LVEF!
The East Avenue Library would like to thank LVEF for awarding us two grants this year for the purchase of new library books. The first grant was used to purchase books to replace our favorite classics that have been read over and over again. The second grant was used to purchase books for our multi- cultural genre. In all, over 60 books were purchased to be read and enjoyed by students for many years to come!

CYMR Results
Thirty seven students here at East Avenue read all three California Young Medal Reader nominated books, between September and April on their own time. The three nominated books were Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson, Rules by Cynthia Lord, and Heat by Mike Lupica. Books are nominated by students, teachers, and librarians in the state of California and then voted upon by students all through the state. At East Avenue the winner was Heat by Mike Lupica by eighteen votes.

Ways to help our Library
MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR OUR SCHOOL LIBRARY WITH BOXTOPS This year, our school set a goal of earning $500 through Box Tops for Education to purchase books and library materials. Thanks to school supporters, in the past we have earned $215. With the continued contributions of parents, teachers and other school supporters, we hope to reach and exceed our goal for this year. For over 10 years, Box Tops for Education has helped America’s schools raise over $200 million to buy the things they need. The Box Tops for Education program offers three easy ways to make a difference through everyday activities: buying groceries, shopping online and purchasing books.
School budgets are tighter than ever, and the East Avenue Library is asking for the support of families and community members like you. Another easy way to help our school is to sign up for the Box Tops website at boxtops4education.com. You’ll get updates on our school’s Box Tops earnings, money-saving coupons, family-pleasing recipes, chances to win Bonus Box Tops, the latest Box Tops news and much, much more. Best of all, it’s absolutely free!

Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair held on December 1st through the 5th was a success! All core classes came and browsed the book fair, as well as many parents who stopped by after school. All proceeds from the book fair go to the library for new books and contest prizes! Thank you to everyone who made a purchase.
